GREAT NEWS!!
There is real a chance that the X51 bus service that presently runs along the A35 between Dorchester and Bridport might be re-routed back through Winterbourne Steepleton and Martinstown providing much needed public transport. A trial run is being considered for this summer, but it is up to us to make sure First Bus know how badly we need our buses back.
So, as soon as possible, please write a short letter or email to Peter McNaughton at First Wessex in support of a trial and explain how a bus service would affect you, your family, friends and neighbours pointing out how a bus service would for example:
- Provide both adults & children regular access to Poundbury, Dorchester and Bridport for medical appointments, shopping, socialising, visiting relatives in care homes & hospital, for workers to get to places of employment and for students to get to school & college.
- Reduce car usage and help those who cannot drive or do not have a car. It would also reduce parking problems, traffic congestion, pollution and carbon emissions.
