Supper Evening
Our third annual supper evening at the village Hall was another splendid well attended event. This year the speaker was John Calder, Project Manager for the Great Big Dorset Hedge – a Dorset Climate Action Network project. John talked about the importance of hedges as a wildlife refuge in the country. They act as a safe ‘corridor’ for animals and birds to move across the countryside. They are also a good way to increase biodiversity within the agricultural landscape without having to sacrifice growing space. Currently the Environmental Land Management Scheme (ELMS) is offering farmers incentives to fill gaps and plant new hedges.
Once again the supper was amazing and the evening was book-ended with wonderful music by Trilby, Pete and Kate.
